چکیده

|We compare CDMA and FDMA (or TDMA) schemes in multi-beam non-geostationary satellite systems, taking the e ects of antenna patterns on inter-cell interference into consideration. The maximum acceptable number of users per cell in uplink is employed as a measure of the system capacity. We have found that in FDMA (or TDMA) systems the maximum acceptable number of users varies according to the altitude of the satellites, while the performance is insensitive to the altitude in CDMA systems. For this reason, the altitude of the satellites is found to be an important factor for selecting multiple access schemes in non-geostationary satellite systems.

Comparison of FDMA. TDMA and CDMA System Capacities

The capacity of mobile protocols such as FDMA (Frequency Division Multiple Access), TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access), and CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) systems are compared assuming perfect power control and the results are compared with the previous results. Methods of calculating the traffic capacity of such systems are discussed. CDMA can provide up-to 20 times more traffic capaci...

Implementation of Multiple Access Techniques Applicable for Maritime Satellite Communications

In this paper are introduced fundamentals, characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of Multiple Access (MA) employed as transmission techniques in the Maritime Mobile Satellite Communications (MMSC) between ships and Coast Earth Station (CES) via Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) or Not‐GEO satellite constellations. In fixed satellite communication, as a rule, especia...

User Density in a Cluster Underwater Acoustic Network

It is well known that a Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) scheme achieves higher user density in a cellular network with radio frequency signal in a terrestrial environment than either Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) or (Frequency Division Multiple Access) FDMA could. The concept of a cellular (cluster) network has been introduced for underwater acoustic communications. However, its per...

Effect of Power-update Rate and Power-update Step Size on Outage Probability of Cdma Systems

The CDMA system has been used extensively in satellite communications. This is due to advantages of spread spectrum techniques used in CDMA systems, and their higher capacity in compare to FDMA & TDMA systems [1]. However, since the advantage of CDMA is related to interference level, CDMA systems needs to have perfect power control for minimizing the interference and obtaining required qualitie...

Channel reuse strategies for indoor infrared wireless communications

We examine systems of fixed-channel reuse for base stations in an indoor infrared wireless communication system. The following techniques are compared: • time-division multiple access (TDMA) using on-off keying (OOK) or pulse-position modulation (PPM); • frequency-division multiple access (FDMA) using binary phase-shift keying (BPSK) or quadrature phase-shift keying (QPSK); • code-division mult...
